Fried Sesame Balls
With Mazola® Corn Oil

Ingredients:
- 200g glutinous rice flour
- 70g sugar
- 160g water
- 200g red bean paste or black sesame paste (store-bought or homemade)
- 50g sesame seeds
- Mazola® Corn Oil, for frying
Instructions:
- In a small pot, bring the sugar and water to a boil.
- In a medium-sized bowl, add the glutinous rice flour and drizzle over the hot sugar-water mixture.
- Mix with a spatula until a smooth dough ball forms, about 5 minutes.
- Cover and let the dough rest for 5 minutes.
- Transfer the dough onto the table and roll into a log.
- Cut the dough into 8-10 even pieces or use a scale to portion.
- Roll each piece of dough into a ball.
- If filling the dough, press down on a dough ball to form a divot, then gently stretch around the edges to form a small cup.
- Add half the weight of the dough ball worth of filling (ie. 25 g of red bean paste for a 50 g dough ball).
- Fold the dough over the filling and roll into a ball to seal shut.
- Repeat steps 7-10 for each dough ball.
- Dip each dough ball in a bowl of water then roll over sesame seeds sprinkled on a plate.
- Roll each ball into a circle shape to ensure the sesame seeds stick.
- In a large pot or wok, add about 4” of Mazola® Corn Oil and heat up to 350 F.
- Fry the sesame balls until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
- Once the balls start to float, press down on them with a spatula or strainer to create air pockets which will results in a fluffier final product.
- Remove the sesame balls and drain on a wire rack.
- Enjoy!
